Recovering from a disaster can feel overwhelming, but Hernando County and its partner agencies provide several programs to help residents repair their homes, replace essential items, and navigate the recovery process. Below is an overview of the key assistance options currently available.

 


 

County Disaster Assistance Program

Hernando County Housing & Supportive Services offers financial assistance for residents affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. Funding is available for essential needs that help stabilize damaged homes and support safe living conditions.

Eligible Assistance May Include:

    • Emergency materials to weatherproof damaged structures
    • Interim repairs to prevent further deterioration
    • Tree or debris removal needed to make a home habitable
    • Construction or repair of wells where no public water is available
    • Coverage of insurance deductibles for storm-related home repairs
    • Temporary rental assistance for disaster-related displacement

Disaster Case Management is a free service that helps individuals and families navigate the complex recovery process after a disaster.

    • Connect residents with funding, repairs, housing, and long-term support
